Wedding Beauty Regime for Brides-To-Be

It's not easy to be a bride, and its a lot of pressure when it comes to maintaining your skin, hair and diet before your big day. Dealing with brides over the past 4 years has given me a lot of insight as to how it all works and what actually works with brides. This is some of the advice I love to give my brides-to-be before working on them:

1. Don't Stress-eat

Don't stress eat while wedding planning as stress either makes some girls lose weight and some eat more than they need to. Balance it out, and include fresh fruits and fresh vegetable juices in between your diet for the day. Superfoods and plenty of water is the way to go! As they say, you are what you eat.

2. Plan Your Facials

Don't do any facials at least two weeks before your wedding, especially if you're trying out a new one. Experimenting with your skin won't make your skin any better so keep your skin safe and clean, before the line up of makeups of your big day actually start. If you're doing any facial, do it two weeks before your wedding only, not any later, incase you react to anything by chance. If you do, it takes time for the skin to heal too.

3. Pay Attention to Darker Areas

Soften & lighten any dark areas like your elbows, knees, ankles, from months in advance, by regularly scrubbing them with a salt scrub as it removes the dead skin. If you do this once a week, you'll see the difference. Sea salt scrubs are great. Moisturize those areas well after scrubbing, preferably with coconut oil.

4. Schedule Hair Removal

Avoid threading any part of your face at least 3-4 days before your first event as it can cause redness, sensitivity and skin irritation, and you don't want a patch peach lump above your lip. And if any redness persists, calm it down with ice and rose water. Don't put any makeup or harsh cleansers over this area so it calms down faster.

5. Treat Your Hair with the Best

Do a few hair conditioning treatments before your first event and after your last event as hairspray and hair tools damage your hair after all that wedding styling. It strips off the moisture and health of your hair, so it needs to be rejuvenated, hydrated and conditioned to bring it back to a healthy condition. I recommend the L'Oreal Power Boost treatment which is an intense conditioning treatment for the hair, not the scalp, and thoroughly softens and moisturizes every strand of the hair if its dry and damaged.

6. Book an Appointment with a Dermatologist

Even if its your first time and you haven't visited one ever, then this is your time to make the best out of your skin. Get a skin regime to follow and do any treatments if needed according to your skin type, if recommend by the specialist. Sometimes, you have skin problems that you don't know about and need to work on before your big day.

7. Try Out Home Remedies

Use home remedies to brighten and soften your skin at least one week before your wedding. For example, try cleaning your face with milk every morning as a natural remedy. They usually work much slower but are effective over a period of time.

8. Don't Leave Your Final Looks pending

Make sure you get your hair and makeup looks sorted out before your wedding events, and don't leave anything to last minute. Coordinate your outfits, looks & jewelry with your hair and makeup artists so that the result is exactly how you want it to be.

9. Use Face Masks for Removing Dead skin

If you're not a facial kind of girl, use face masks that give you similar results. I recommend you try the Glam Glow Mud Mask (from Sephora) and the Apothecary Sandalwood Mud Mask (www.apothecarybymamta.com). Meanwhile, scrubbing before a mask is always a great idea so pick a scrub that suits your skin type. If you have open pores, I don't recommend you scrub your face. If you want natural, my favorite one is made of honey, turmeric powder, yoghurt and flour. It brightens, clears up skin and refreshes too.

10. Invest in Personal Makeup Classes

Most brides forget how important it is to actually have the right makeup on after your wedding. Especially when you have so many post-wedding parties and events, having the right mix of makeup when attending these events is key. Learning the basics helps, and getting the right makeup kit makes everything easier for a very long time. (At Flawless Beauty by Enrica, we offer personal makeup classes for brides in Dubai) Knowing about the foundation that suits your color and skin type, as well as the basics of eye makeup make all the difference.
